PostSubject: Code geass : Review   Wed Jul 15, 2009 4:29 am

From time to time comes an anime which puts you at the edge of your seat and keeps you there throughout its entirety. A few years ago it was Death note. Death note was truely magnificent and honestly no one ever thought their could be something made has good as it in it's genre atleast. This was true for a while until this little gem was upon us.

Code Geass basically a britsh boy (i mean Britanian) who is banished by his father the emporer with his younger sister Nunally. I would not like to give away too much fo the plot. But basically its 7 years later > and the british (I mean britanians, cuz noone saw what they did there) have takin over a third of the world (I think that's right) including Japan which is now known as area 11. And Lelouch is now a student (forgot how it got to there) at ashford (or w.e the school is called) one day while skipping school with his best friend an accident happens and he goes down to help the people turns out their rebelious 11,s uhm I mean japanese and at the back their seems to be some ssort of a chamber and it is soon revealed that C2 or C.C is in the chamber. Anyways soon after Lelouch is off with the gurl tryin to get her to safety I assume but Britanian soldiers appear with Suzaku who happens to be Lelouch's childhood best friend (what a twist) anyway nothing happens there as they run off again (Suzaku is an honarary britanian* BTW) BUt are confronted again this time though the soldier tries to shoot lelouch but the C2 comes in the way an gets shot thorugh the head so everyoen thinks she's dead even though she's one of the main characters (sarcasm) Just as Lelouch is about to be shot C2 gives Lelouch the power to bend people's will's called geass. and it goes form there. Lelouch starts his rebelion to get revenge on his father and so his sister could live without fear in the world (she is blind and handicapped)

The way the story shapes and the twists that come with it is what makes the series very special and is only rivaled by that of Death Note. And even though season 1 ends with a huge cliffhanger season 2 truely finishes this epic tale os betrayal, love, and rebelion. The anime tackles many things such as politics and hits them perfectly. MAny other Geass powers are introduced throughout the series which leads to even more twists. It is a very addictive show cuz of the way they end each and every episode. The voicework is spot on even for the english dub (surprised Very Happy) The animations is very fluid and likeable (even if the guys look like girls sometimes) Their are maybe a couple of filler episodes if you can call them that (those episodes with C2's former contract partner?) One other thing I really liked in the anime was Lelouch himself he is a genius who seems to remind me of Light Yagami alot. Other characters such as kallen all have thier moments. Though most characters are pretty flat some seem to have very detailed backgrounds but that is to be expected. All I wonder is how many brothers and sisters does Lelouch have O.O haha

Animation-8.5/10
Voicework-9.5/10
Story-9.5/10
Characters-9/10

Overall-9.2/10

Well that was my first review hope ya enjoyed it you can watch the whole first season up on youtube and I don't mean in parts here's the link -

Wow, nice review Azaryn. I never actually watched Code Geass before but i think i will now Smile. Not much of an anime person but i'm interested in this one. Since its a 9.5 story, i'll watch it because the story is my top most quality i look for.

Well I really recommend it even if you are not an anime fan. The story is truly epic though it leaves a bit to be desired the ending pretty much patches the while show and answers most of the questions but some are still left and it's my first review good to hear a compliment. Their is alot of action though I didn't mention that though
