| Out of understanding, I would like that whoever sees this can pin/sticky the topic if he has the permissions. As Universal Team Mediator, this is something I will be trying to start everywhere. That includes teams, academies, and cities, if any more exist. Understand that this is a suggestion, but it would be very well recommended to be followed and/or discussed. I will quote a couple posts from DA. Aster is the well-known Tsurin. I of course am Loger0050. Please take these things to mind, even though they may not apply the same aspects of DK. | Aster wrote: | I might've just became a Moderator, but I have to admit, that was practically pointless. My permissions are a bare minimum, and there is little to moderate. We need something to spice things up. I recommend: -Getting an article team. There is all of one article in your "Library". -Send out a newsletter. I know it sounds corny, but people who get newsletters are more likely to be reminded that they -are- a member of this forum and are more inclined to return. -Beef up the GFX areas. Have contests. -Encourage deck discussion. There's a lot of talent going to waste because there's so few decks posted. -Have feature interviews with winners and nominees of the 2008 BC duelist awards. |
| Loger0050 wrote: | I support this idea 100%. Tsurin being my associate and admin (at the BC Team/Academy Universe) understands the need for academy reform the same way I do. Duelists on KCVDS are often n00bs or beginners who have no way of quickly learning the game. Instead, they continue to duel and learn the hard way making the process long and painful. But there is a solution isn't there? Academies were made for this very purpose or at least, this is what the word means. If we continue to work on academies in the right direction. This "educational" reform will help shape the new members of BC. For that reason, I agree that an article team is necessary as well as more stimulated deck discussions. His other suggestions are excellent ways to trim the academy. Don't worry, these changes should apply to all academies, even Duel Kings. No academy has truly satisfied me with its activities yet. However I'd be delighted and impressed if DA would be one of the first to start shaping up. Props to Tsurin for putting this together! |

| My proposition is not limited to something like "Card of the Day." Sure it is educational. But I am trying to create more large-scale programs. A revolution basically. Card of the Day will not teach noobs how to be good people. At least not on its own. It is a good step towards improvement. Surely not enough. |

Lets take a look. Article team is a fine idea. Newsletter idk because most people count it as spam in their inbox like me xD GFX contests we have a few...deck discussion has less time, maybe set up a deck competition o.o, last one...OH H*LL NO DON'T REMIND ME OF THAT <_< |

| lol. No matter what consider these ideas. And always remember the big picture. This is NOT about Duel Kings. This is about proving a point. Proving that academies are elite organizations, or that they can be. Educational programs such as classes have to be started because that is what academies are. It is meaningless otherwise. |

| Of course ya learn something here because of the mass dueling in the Duel Dome, it allows active players to practice several times to uh get dueling skillz. If we are a ''meaningless'' academy why do we have so many posts? Say the source, the source is my point xD |

| I am not a member of this Academy and will not claim to be. However, I wish to note the following: Getting Dorm Leaders to step in and fill a teacherly role is something that is necessary. Why is it that the requirements for Dorm Leader are to be the luckiest duelists to win a tournament? The problem is, there is a lack of teachers. Everyone wants to duel well, and knowledge is power. So improving the members' dueling seems like a waste. Improving the status of an Academy starts with teaching. That's the Academy's main focus, and if it is not, we need to review whether it is an Academy or not. In addition, thank you to Loger for bringing this up here. -Tsurin, Member of the Maximum Six |

| Good points, and I would advise everyone to listen to these guys. DK must constantly improve if we are to be and remain the best! We have many opportunities to pioneer new programs in the world of Academies, we can and should use our position as the leading academy to set an example for the rest of them, and improve the KCVDS community. For starters, I would like our forum to be known for the etiquette of its members. I may be working on a simple guide for starters, about how to not be a noob, as well as how to deal with them. No one likes playing with a rude or insulting player. _________________ Deep in the heart, there must be something that will not disappear. Yes that's exactly what we are doing. We, the Maximum Six and its subordinates have a vision to reform the dueling world of KCVDS. Starting from here, we can make a ripple. People will realize that having courses is essential in an academy and it is for the good of everyone. We will not force anything upon you or your admins, but we shall make the community itself bring upon this change. Note that Headcase is also a Maximum Six. |

| We're saying that there should be some standard of 'teaching'. An Academy's job is to teach. If the Academy doesn't teach, then what is it considered? |

| I don't think Duel Kings has the staff ready to make this happen, Loger. We are revolutionaries, and 'teaching in an Academy' must therefore be a new concept to everyone... even if Academy=School in the dictionary. |

If u want to have recognition prove urself in BC by winning a tourny or atleast going to top 3 there. xD Academy = School U got to have some teaching or else there wont be any point for it If u do not want to teach -- Change its name from Duel Kings Academy to Duel Kings Team. xD _________________ |

Our goal is not to change every academy to a team. That's ridiculous... If you actually put together everything I/we have said so far you'd catch on a bit. Here it is put simply:
We want every academy, including DK, to have teachers giving functional classes and harbor educational programs.
If you don't want to, so be it. But hell, this is just the beginning. Our efforts to improve KCVDS's community will only get more effective. This weekend I will be organizing a meeting with the admins in charge of DK in an effort to help put together plans for change and make the creation of these programs more feasible. Those who wish to participate additionally may PM me. |

| Well as far as classes go I'd suggest something like this: Maybe have "teachers" for different levels of dueling. Starting with some for dueling 101 working your way up to something like what cards to target with a trap such as Sakuretsu armor or something of the sort. _________________ |

| HSoHK????? And another thing I was thinking was something like we have teachers for certain cards and combos with them. Like an example(everyone should know this one though) using destiny draw on malicious fiend and RFG'ing it then using CCV on it next turn. So like we have teachers for like continuous traps, normal ones, counters, then for all the types of spells and monsters too. _________________ |
