This is what happened between me and Adros duel.
Well he had LADD out and i had "Heavy Storm"on my hand and i wanted to decrease his attk pts so i activated it even tho Adro did not have any spells or traps on field.He told me he don't think i could do that.He said i could not activate "heavy storm"unless he has spells and traps on fiels but he let me do it anyways and i still lost that single duel.


Now for the question..

Can i use "heavy storm"just to activate it and reduce LADD attk pts even tho other duelist does not have spells or traps on field?

Hmmm I don't think so.
Unless you had one spell or trap card on the field Heavy Storm cannot be activated due to being no spells or traps to be destroyed by. LADD can negate it but you need spells and traps before activation of Storm.

Since you most likely had none Heavy Storm cannot be activated.
So nope lol. If you had a s/t you can use it

yes you can use heavy storm it's effect never actually goes through in example would be say my opponent has no monsters on the field and i play lightning vortex i still pay the cost of the discard and none of his monsters are destroyed since he had none so yes you can play heavy storm

ur opponent must have at least 1 face up monster for lightning vortex
and of course for heavy storm there must be at least 1 trap or a spell on the field (any side of the field) same for mystical space typhoon
cards like waboku and threatning roar can be activated even though there r no monsters on ur oponent side ( i did that b4 to get a free space for my spells and traps) xD

i dont think you can activate heavy storm when there are no s/t on the field

Well , can you activate Lightning Vortex if there are no monsters on your opponent side ? no same thing you can't activate heavy Storm because there are no spell & traps

Your wrong Kaiser, you CAN activate heavy storm or lightning vortex if there are no monsters or S/Ts. The thing is that nothing will happen. The effect will go through but nothing changes lol. The point is, the effect will just fizzle, the card will still be activated, but the effect just fizzles and dies.

it is simple common sense that if no spell or trap cards on the field, then you CANNOT activate heavy storm same goes for lightning vortex if there are no monsters. it doesnt take much thinking to figure that out as its simple gameplay

Raigeki:Destroy all monsters on your opponent's side of the field.

Ruling: If there are no monsters on your opponent's side of the field you may not activate "Raigeki".

Same thing with heavy storm and lightning vortex

If you set Heavy, then activated it, wouldn't its effect be valid because it would destroy itself during resolve before it would normally be sent to the grave?

Heavy storm doesnt destroy its self

Its basic gameplay that when a normal spell card is activated, it is decided that at the time when its resolved it will be sent to the graveyard.

this is why u CANNOT use Phoenix wing wind blast on a normal spell card

and also why Giant trunade doesn't return its self to the hand

well yeah you cannot activate heavy storm because thier really anything it's effecting. Say for like DaD you cannot activate its effect just to remove somethign it must have targeted something or things

This topic is question for LADD. I just want to confirm this so I hope this is not SPAM. If i attack my opponent's Face down Man- Eater Bug(Night Assailant,Old Vindictive,Snowman Eater, Nobleman Eater, Penguin Soldier etc.), can i activate the effect of my LADD? Even if it is already destroyed by LADD's attack? >.<
