Stardust Dragon!

I just want to know the answer to this question since it is not in wiki nor in netrep.net

I have my face up Stardust Dragon and attack my
opponent's face down Man-Eater Bug, Night Assailant,Penguin Soldier.
Can I activate the effect of my Stardust Dragon even if the opponent's monster is already destroyed by its attack?

okk.

1) you cant use Stardust's effect on Penguin Solder.
2) once the opposing cards effect activates, thats when you have to choose to react with Stardust Dragon.

Ryan, the thing is.....the effect activates at the damage step (which is after said card has been destroyed......so the attack's already gone through completely). That's what he's having trouble w/ and I'm actually fairly curious too.

If Stardust dragon attacks man eater bug, then man eater bugs effect will activate after damage calculation, all of this occurring in the damage step and stardust effects can be used there

Netrep Ruling:

"Stardust Dragon's" first effect can be activated during the Damage Step.

Answers:

1. Stardust Dragon's effect can be activated during damage calculation after you attack your opponent's f/d man eater bug or night assailant.
2. Stardust Dragon's effect cannot be activated during damage calculation after you attack your opponent's f/d Penguin Soldier.
